# Softmax: start here (for any coding agent)

Rules that always apply:
- After each step, print one line: `Step N done: <what you checked>`.
- If you can't do something (no internet, no shell, no Docker, need a login, need a decision),
  don't wait and don't retry. Print `HANDOFF: <what the human must do>` and stop.
- Never run commands that open a browser or keep running (replay viewers, `play`).
  Give them to the human instead.
- When your human asks you to make, change, practise or release a program, do just that step, to the
  program they named. A new program starts from the coworld's recommended program. No research protocol
  is needed: don't wait for a champion, topics, hypotheses or noise checks.
