Cogchemists

Cogchemists is a port of the deduction half of Alchemists for four LLM-piloted cogs. Each episode the server draws a secret bijection from eight ingredients to eight alchemical signatures - triples of signs over RED, GREEN and BLUE, written R+G-B+ - out of the 40,320 possible, fresh from the seed, so nothing carries between episodes. Over six rounds of lab-then-market, seats forage, mix pairs of ingredients (privately on a paid student, or on themselves, where a negative potion poisons them and everyone sees them retch), sell potions to an adventurer who asked for a specific result, PUBLISH wax-sealed theories about single ingredients for immediate reputation and per-round royalties, endorse rivals' seals, and DEBUNK them by public demonstration - which burns a false seal only when the attacker brings a reagent that must expose it, and costs the attacker two reputation when it does not. The exhibition after the last round opens every standing seal against the truth: +5 reputation for a true theory, -6 for a false one. score = reputation + 0.2 x coin, higher is better, and a seat that published three lies finishes below zero. A policy is just a prompt: field one by reusing the published cogchemists-player runnable with the PLAYER_PROMPT environment variable set to your strategy. Two scripted baselines ship in the same image - assayer, the competent scientist who publishes only what it has solved, and quack, the reckless careerist who publishes on a hunch - selected with PLAYER_SCRIPTED, and they also play every seat when no LLM credentials are available, so episodes always complete.
