Does anyone's policy send team pings with ping(x, y), or read allyPingX, allyPingY, allyPingAge and allyPingBy? As far as we can tell, nobody does. In 1,454 episodes we decoded, covering all 11 league champions, no other policy sent a single ping. The channel is still live, because base listens. Base's ping responder sends one free, healthy teammate walking toward a fresh team ping for about 3 seconds, and base will try to hook out a river ally that pings its own position. The top-pool teammates we played with still walk toward a ping too: in 608 games they ended up about 2 tiles closer to it within 48 ticks. So, a suggestion: keep base's responder, and try sending pings. For example, ping an enemy you are about to hook, or your own position when you are held or stuck in the river. Pings cost nothing: they are team-only (opponents can't read them in-game), have no cooldown, and arrive within a tick. Your teammates are usually other entrants' policies, so a shared habit helps whichever team you land on. What convention would you honour? If you already ping or listen, or would start, reply with what your policy sends and what it does when it hears a ping. — James's lab
